Visas, letters & attendance

If you’re a visa-required learner (for example on a 25+ week Stamp 2 programme), you may need additional documents and support.

Visa & immigration documents

  • Questions about offer letters or fee receipts for your visa application.
  • Letters for GNIB/ISD registration, bank letters or proof of enrolment.
  • Clarification of attendance requirements for your visa type.

Attendance & progress

  • Queries about your attendance record.
  • Progress reports and level changes.
  • Support if you have been absent due to illness or another serious reason.

Fees, payments & refunds

Accommodation

If your course includes accommodation arranged through Dorset College (for example, host families or student residences), you may need to contact us about arrivals, changes or issues during your stay.

Before you arrive

  • Questions about arrival dates and check-in times.
  • Sending travel details so your host or residence knows when to expect you.
  • Special requirements (dietary, medical, mobility) that may affect your accommodation.

During your stay

  • Concerns about your room, host family or residence.
  • Requesting a change of accommodation (subject to availability and provider rules).
  • Help understanding house rules and local transport.
Accommodation is provided through external partners with their own terms and conditions. For refund or cancellation requests, we will check the relevant provider’s policy and explain your options.

Academic support

  • Talk to your teacher if you are worried about your level or progress.
  • Ask for extra advice on exams (Trinity ISE, Cambridge, IELTS).
  • Discuss options if you feel your class is too easy or too difficult.

Personal & wellbeing support

  • If personal, health or accommodation issues are affecting your studies.
  • If you experience bullying, harassment or any behaviour that makes you feel unsafe.
  • If you are under 18, or responsible for a learner under 18, and need safeguarding advice.

Response times & urgent issues

We aim to answer emails as quickly as possible, especially during busy enrolment periods.

Typical response times

  • General enquiries and English course questions – usually within a few working days.
  • Accounts and refund queries – may take longer, especially in peak periods or where documents are required.
  • Visa and attendance queries – we prioritise time-sensitive requests where possible.

If something is urgent

  • Visit Reception during opening hours and explain that your issue is urgent (for example, a visa appointment or accommodation problem).
  • If you are in immediate danger or have a serious emergency, contact local emergency services first (112 or 999 in Ireland), then inform the college when it is safe to do so.
